The former member Travis Smith of Trivium has been replaced permanently by NICK AUGUSTO. So I posted this article for trivium fans. He is a friend of Trivium bassist Paolo Gregoletto and He is a drum tech for Trivium in the past years. He is a former member of a grindcore band, Maruta in Florida. This is what the Official site of Trivium wrote :
New York, NY: Florida metallers TRIVIUM are pleased to announce Nick Augusto as their new permanent drummer. Augusto was introduced to Trivium fans when he filled in behind the kit on last fall’s “Into the Mouth of Hell We Tour” trek. He is now stepping in to permanently replace the departing Travis Smith.
Vocalist/guitarist Matt Heafy commented, “We’re really happy to have our good friend and fellow Floridian Nick Augusto join the Trivium family. Nick’s drumming is very technical and diverse and he brings a real intense energy to the band and we can’t wait for everyone to hear the new song, ‘Shattering the Skies Above,” that we just recorded with Nick. I think it’s the best Trivium recording we’ve ever done; it’s raw, full of energy and I think Nick’s drumming really pushed us to a new level.”
The always industrious Trivium are wasting no time in the wake of this line up shift and are staying busy as they work their new skinsman into the fold. The band has recorded two brand new tracks: the aforementioned “Shattering the Skies Above” will appear on the forthcoming, digital-only God of War Blood & Metal EP, as well as a cover of Sepultura’s “Slave New World.”
The band will also head right back out on the road, embarking on a tour of Asia, New Zealand, Australia and the UK, which kicks off February 11, in Jakarta, Indoensia and runs through March 24 in England. This will be the band’s final tour dates in support of 2008’s Shogun. Once the tour ends, the band will head back to the studio to work on their next album for Roadrunner Records.
Rhythm caught up with Nick ahead of Trivium’s show in Bristol earlier this week to get the lowdown on replacing Travis, touring and what’s coming up for the band.
How did joining Trivium come about?
“I’ve known Paulo (Trivium bassist) for probably 15 plus years and he asked me one time to come out and tech for the band. I did that and after Travis couldn’t make a tour I filled in for him and pretty much just stayed in the band.”
How has the reaction from fans been?
“The reaction has been pretty much mostly positive. I’ve had lots of people come up saying they like the new song. The tour’s been awesome. It’s been my first time overseas and it’s definitely been cool.”
What kit are you using while you’re in the UK?
“I’m using a PDP kit that Trivium owns over here. It’s a nice kit. I just use a five piece. A small and practical set up, maybe just four cymbals, one kick drum and that’s it. Back in the States we have a DW kit that we use.”
How is the rest of 2010 looking for Trivium?
“We’re going home to start working on new stuff. We’ll probably be writing and practising for three or four months then we’re all going to rent out a house together. We’ll probably start that in August or something and it’ll taker a couple of months. Then we’ll be back touring.”
